Project Lead(s): Jo Dawson, Hiroshi Imai & Rina Kasai
Project Timeline: 2024-2025(?)
Project Summary: Optimise Selavy Source Finder for GASKAP-OH Continuum Data Products
Project Page: Spectral Line Source Finding Project
Project Lead(s): Shari Breen, Jo Dawson & Beth Cappellazzo
Team Members: Jayendar Kumar, Matthew Whiting, AusSRC people
Project Timeline: 2025(?)
Project Summary: We aim to develop an efficient and reliable spectral source-finding pipeline optimised for bright, high-dynamic range, point-like sources in large (> 2TB), high spatial/spectral resolution datacubes. A core component will be the development of a sidelobe rejection algorithm that can mitigate false detections while correctly identifying weak
sources even in contaminated regions.
Project Lead(s): Shari Breen, Jo Dawson, Chenoa Tremblay
[Project summary]
All team members that plan to use GASKAP-OH data in a project should follow the recommended process for creating and executing a project as part of the GASKAP-OH collaboration.
- A team member completes the publication proposal Google form including a rough abstract, a clear description of which part(s) of the data will be used, the anticipated timeline, expected team members, and whether it is a student/ECR project.
- The GASKAP-OH PIs (Shari Breen and Jo Dawson) preliminarily approve the project and circulate details to the full collaboration within ~1 week.
- Collaboration members will have 2 weeks to sign on to the project/paper or object to it.
- The PIs make the final decision on whether a project is accepted. In cases where conflict is identified, the PIs will work with affected project team members to attempt to mediate an inclusive solution.
- Open projects intended to be student projects can be proposed, but a period of time that is reserved for recruiting a student must be included. After that period has lapsed, the project can be opened up to others.
- The project lead makes a new entry in the GASKAP-OH wiki project pages, including a project overview and list of team members (with expected roles and responsibilities). For student projects the anticipated timeline for student recruitment and thesis submission should be included if appropriate.
- Project leads are expected to keep the wiki and key team members up to date on progress.
- In cases where no progress is made over an extended period, the PIs may liaise with the project team to determine an appropriate way forward. In extreme cases this may include re-opening the science topic to the broader collaboration.
